From November 17-18, 2011 Batumi Radisson hosted the 9th Intergovernmental Commission Meeting for Economic Cooperation between Georgia and Republic of Armenia. The commission meeting was chaired by the prime ministers of the both countries, Nika Gilauri and Tigran Sargsyan. After the meeting, the Prime Minister of Georgia pointed out that Armenia is one of the main partners of Georgia."Trade turnover between us has grown by 40%. Greatest number of tourists arrives from Armenia to Georgia. We have a very good political relations and very important economic relations. At the meeting we have talked about several energy projects, transit perspectives, transport," pointed out Nika Gilauri.
On November 19, during the Intergovernmental Commission Meeting the two parties discussed cooperation in various issues such as the opportunities for the further development of trade and economic relations, cooperation in fields of investments, tourism, transport and communications, customs etc. After the plenary session parties signed the official protocol of the event.
Georgian National Investment Agency has negotiated concrete cooperation opportunities with the Armenian counterparts and a chapter on the collaboration in the fields of investments has been included in the final protocol. According to agreement GNIA and Armenian Development Agency will actively exchange information regarding the investment projects in fields of tourism, IT, light manufacturing, agriculture. Two agencies plan to organize business tours in Georgia and Armenia to study the business climate and will share the information regarding investors present in each country.
