GNIA facilitates the export of Alcoholic and Non alcoholic beverages

On July 29, 2011 the Export Promotion Service of the Georgian National Investment Agency conducted a meeting with representatives from several alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage companies in Georgia. The main goal of the meeting was to introduce the Export Promotion Service strategy and inform them of the numerous international events that Georgian companies can participate in with the support of the Georgian National Investment Agency. It should be noted that taking into consideration GNIA resources and the market analysis, the priority was given to the promotion of the export of Georgian alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. To this end, Gvantsa Meladze, Head of GNIA Export Promotion Service already visited Urumqi, China and conducted wine promotion days, exploring the mainland China market as well as the export potential to Hong Kong and Macau.

The Georgian companies present at the meeting where informed of the numerous international events such as the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair (November 3-5), the China-Eurasia Expo (September 1-5), sending wine samples to the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Competition, and Londons “Cradle of Wine” event. It is notable that the GNIA has already established contacts with the organizers of these events and have negotiated special rates, as well as the bonus packages for Georgian companies willing to participate. In addition, the Investment Agency will co-finance the participation of shortlisted companies in all listed events.


One of the most important events organized by the GNIA Export Promotion Service will be Trade with Georgia 2011 – Beverages Tradeshow and the B2B Forum. The trade show will take place in Tbilisi and will feature more 300 people. Among those attending will be international traders, importers, international media and experts mainly from Asian and Arabic countries. Famous wine expert Lisa Perrotti-Brown will be the distinguished guest and a key note speaker at the event. Ms. Perrotti-Brown is Singapores only Master of Wine and writes for the worlds most renowned wine publication, ‘Robert Parkers Wine Advocate, which covers the Asian region entirely. Famous Chinese wine expert Guo Songquan will also visit Georgia within the framework of the event.
