On July 13, 2011 Vera Kobalia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia opened Georgia-China business Forum at Vere palace hotel. The event was organized by Georgian National Investment Agency and the Embassy of Peoples Republic of China in Tbilisi. Partners of the business forum were Georgian chamber of commerce and industry and Georgian Employers Association. The Chinese delegation was led by Mr. Sun Zhenxiao, Deputy director general of Department of commerce XUAR of China.
After the official opening of the forum Georgian National Investment Agency made a presentation on the investment opportunities and the business friendly environment currently offered by Georgia. In the frames of the business forum 10 companies came to Georgia with the aim of exploring the investment climate and making market research for planning cooperation. The Chinese companies represented the following sectors: energy, tourism infrastructure development, aviation-advancing charter flights, fruit processing. The delegation members were interested in receiving information on financial procedures in Georgia and the payment options in trade. Georgian Companies had a chance to meet Chinese business delegation members and discuss cooperation opportunities.
Vera Kobalia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia discussed the economic relations between two countries and emphasized the importance of currently having direct flights to Peoples Republic of China. According to the minister the direct flight has already increased not only the number of Chinese visitors to Georgia, but also many Asian tourists are using this flight and come to our country. Besides flights help the Georgian businesses to export production to Chinese market.
