Through May 12-14, 2011, the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Czech Republic visited Georgia along with a Czech business delegation.
Within the framework of the official visit, the Czech-Georgian business forum was hosted by the Radisson Blu Iveria hotel. The welcome speeches were provided by Mrs. Vera Kobalia Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mr. Karel Schwarzenberg Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and Mr. Milan Hovorka, Deputy Minister of Industry of the Czech Republic. The business forum was organized by the Georgian National Investment Agency in cooperation with the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Czech business delegation included businessmen from the following fields: insurance, construction, rehabilitation of infrastructure (tunnels, bridges), investment, pharmaceuticals, medical diagnostics, house-hold gadgets, heating systems and manufacturers of agricultural machinery. The banking and energy sectors were also represented. The Georgian-Czech business forum garnered great interest from Georgian companies which were able to make new business connections during the half day.
It should be noted that thanks to the efforts of Mr. Milan Hovorka, Deputy Minister of Industry of the Czech Republic, the Georgian-Czech Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry was opened in the Czech Republic in 2011.
