Winners of the Student Project initiated by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development were announced on May 13, 2011. Presentations of the investment projects prepared by the students and the award ceremony took place at “Didube Plaza” Conference Center.
The winners were awarded by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Vera Kobalia.
The new student project was initiated in March 2011 by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the Georgian National Investment Agency and the Enterprise Management Agency. During the contest, students had to prepare business proposals for concrete projects that were chosen by the organizers beforehand.
Six leading Georgian universities participated in the projects: Tbilisi Free University, the International Black Sea University, the Caucasian Business School, Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, the University of Georgia and Georgian-American University.

 


92 students from these universities actively participated in the project and prepared their proposals on the following cases: the Development of Akhtala Resort, the Refinement of Vartsikhe Brand and the Study of High- Pressure Natural Gas Venture. The fourth topic of the contest was to study the export potential of different products and plan general development in this direction.
In the last stage of the project, the students had 30 minutes to present their projects. 10 minutes were spent on questions and answers between the jury and the students. Each project topic was evaluated by 4 juries; the jury was composed of the managers of financial institutions, representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and as well as other experts.
The jury revealed 4 winner groups – 16 students who received Ipads as presents. The Winning universities of the student initiative are: Georgian-American University (Refinement of Vartsikhe Brand), International Black Sea University (High-Pressure Natural Gas Venture); University of Georgia (Development of Akhtala Resort); Caucasian University (Study of the Export Potential of Different Products).
