Through April, 26-28, 2011 during visit to Spain Vera Kobalia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and Keti Bochorishvili, Director of Georgian National Investment Agency visited “Inditex” group which unites eight brands such as Zara, Pull & Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home and Uterqüe.
“Inditex” owns more than 5000 retail shops in 78 countries, the shop chains are on every continent. Now the group headquartered in Spain, along with its covertures, controls more than 100 companies in textile design, manufacturing and distribution.
Vera Kobalia informed Spanish businessmen on the business environment in Georgia, countrys industrial and logistics potential and offered them to start operations in Georgia. During the meetings it was decided that “Inditex” will send its group of analysts to explore the business development opportunities in the country.
One of the main retail chains of “Inditex” is “Zara” which despite its short history of existence, established in 1975, is one of the most outstanding on the worlds market due to high speeds of responding to customer needs. Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development visited the “Inditex” headquarters, along with the design centre, apparel plant and warehouse from where the production is sent all over Europe including Spain. In the frames of the visit Minister also visited Saragosa Logistics Centre.During the meeting with “Inditex” leadership it became known that Spanish Business Union plans to enter the Georgian Market already by the end of this year. First Zara shiop will be opened in Tbilisi in one of the prestigious shopping malls, however “Inditex” plans to expand its business in Georgia in near future.
