Through 6-13 November 2010 Latin American States Ambassadors at the same time being the permanent representatives of their countries to UN are visiting Georgia. The visit is hosted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the framework of the visit number of meetings are scheduled with different ministries, H.E. Mr. Nika Gilauri, Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. David Bakradze, Chairman of Parliament, Mrs. Vera KobaliaMinister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
On November 9, 2010 the Latin American delegation had a meeting with Director of Georgian National Investment Agency. The delegation members were ambassadors of the following countries: Argentine Republic, Republic of Paraguay, Republic of Suriname, Republic of Peru, Federative Republic of Brazil. The Georgian side was represented by Ambassador Mr. Alexander Lomaia, Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN, Mr. Giorgi Kvelashvili, Deputy Director of the Department of the Americas, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ms. Ketevan Sabauri,Attaché, Department of the Americas, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
The director of the Georgian National Investment Agency provided a presentation on current investment climate in Georgia, outlined attractive sectors for investment, the government reforms undertaken in latest period. Georgia is known as one of the major FDI destinations in the region thanks to the ease of doing business, liberal tax regimes and strict anti-corruption policies. Country offers investors free industrial zones and quite recently a free touristic zone in Kobuleti.
The meeting provided enough space for discussions and questions. GNIA director provided additional information on each issue of interest. The delegation members were highly satisfied with the meeting.
