Today, HSBC Bank Georgia jsc and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development held a second workshop of a “Trade Academy” for Georgian Corporates. Specifically for this occasion the Head of European Structured and Supply Chain Sales of HSBC, Frederic Vilsboe, visited Georgia. Together with local experts from HSBC and representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Georgian National Investment Agency, Frederic talked about the process of trading internationally, the risks involved in trading overseas, and how to mitigate them. The workshop was attended by the senior managers of organisations involved in international trade.

The Trade Academy project, initiated by HSBC, has already been successful in a number of countries globally, including the UK and France. In each country, the Academy is tailored to the needs of the particular market. In Georgia it is focused on international trade products, Foreign Exchange markets and relevant legislation.

Guy Lewis, CEO of HSBC Bank Georgia said: “The First workshop of our Trade Academy received much interest and very positive feedback. This was one of the reasons we have decided to hold it for the second time. These academies have been successful because we are able to provide relevant advice and insight from world experts on the subject of international trade.  Our aim is to help empower Georgian businesses and support their future growth.”

HSBC Bank and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development have a number of joint projects to support international trade, which include a Georgian web-portal on export and English web-portal on trade.
