On September 15, 2010 Turkish business delegation leaded by the Izmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry visited Georgia. On the same day “Radisson Blu Iveria” hotel hosted a Georgian-Turkish Business forum organized by the Georgian National Investment Agency (GNIA) and Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The forum was opened by Mr. Ekmer Demirtash, the president of Izmir Chamber of Commerce who provided a presentation on economic achievements of Izmir. Georgian National Investment Agency was represented by Mr. George Tsikolia, Investment Projects Coordinator who shared a presentation on the investment climate in Georgia giving some insights in the current investment opportunities, country ratings in numerous economic surveys and also informed audience on the GNIA performance as only government agency responsible for investment and recently also for export promotion. Rather interesting presentation was also provided by Mr. Josep Nibladze, Senior Executive of marketing, Rakia Georgia Free Industrial Zone, who gave an overview of the Poti free industrial zone.
The business forum was followed by B2B meetings between Georgian and Turkish Business representatives according to the sectors they operate in. Turkish businessmen represented the following industrial sectors: construction materials, real estate, shoe and bag production, restaurants and cafes, food products, agriculture, jewelry production, audit, publishing and computer services, education and social services, heavy industry (black metals, coal), etc
GNIA regularly organizes similar business forums and encourages Georgian companies to make ties internationally and establish new business partnerships.
