TAV Airports Holding is a success story in airport operations--one of the most challenging industries in the world--written with know-how, experience and creativity.
As market demands are generating opportunities in any business, Georgia as transit region with great potential being a transportation hub between Asia and Europe drew TAV Airports Holding s attention. The dominance of these factors attributed two investment projects accomplished by TAV Holding as Tbilisi and Batumi International Airports, bringing at the same time its huge experience in aviation to Georgia.
TAV`s history dates back to 1997, with the official call for tenders for the Istanbul Ataturk Airport International Terminal Building. TAV Airports Holding was established as a joint venture between the Tepe and Akfen Groups, the winning bidders for the contract. Istanbul Ataturk Airport is among the very first examples of "Build-Operate-Transfer" airport operations projects in the world. This project, reflecting the contemporary image of Turkey, has also come to be the first concrete step of TAV`s success story.
As a part of a planned process, TAV reorganized its organizational structure in 2006, gathering all of its operations activities under the TAV Airports Holding (TAV Airports) division, and construction activities under the TAV Construction division. Following this reorganization, TAV Airports Holding was presented for initial public offering in February 2007. The company continues to build on its success every year and strive to represent Turkey in the best manner possible in the international arena.
