Georgia is a country rich with natural resources. Its geographical location and immense water potential that are the precondition for successful power generation business, determined our decision to choose Georgia as one of our investment destinations. Apart from that Georgia is a country, where foreign investments are strongly supported and corresponding environment for easy business development is created.
Our project implementation in Georgia started since year 2007. In comparison to other projects carried out by ENERGO-PRO Group in other countries, our energy project in Georgia combines generation and distribution sectors.
At the beginning, when we entered Georgian energy market, we acquired 6 medium size hydro power plants (Atsi HPP, Rioni HPP, Gumati HPP Cascade, Dzevri HPP, Shaori HPP and Ladjanuri HPP) and two energy distribution companies (Adjara Energy Company and United Energy Distribution Company); later on our activity in Georgia started to develop into successful business, making us the larges energy generation and distribution utility in the country. At present, we own 10 hydro power plants, employ 5 200 employees and serve more than 860 000 customers throughout the country (including households and commercial customers).
In future, we plan to expand our business further; in distribution field, we are implementing electricity grid rehabilitation and individual re-metering projects that maintain cities and settlings; in year 2010 we plan to start re-metering projects of villages as well. In frame of generation development, apart from rehabilitation of acquired assets, our project envisages construction of new hydro power plant at Gubazeuli river – Zoti HPP (41 MW).
At present, JSC ENERGO-PRO Georgia represents one of the biggest energy companies in the region, with the service area covering 70% of Georgian land plot.
