IMDA 18th World Business Congress, 1-5 July, 2009, Tbilisi

International Management Development Association (IMDA) 18th World Business Congress was opened on 1 of July in Tbilisi, Georgia, closing on 5th of July. The Congress is hosted by the International Black Sea University in cooperation with the Georgian National Investment Agency and the Ministry of Economic Development of Georgia.

 

The Congress gathered together academic-scientific as well as business sector representatives of different countries.

 

Executive Vice-President and Director of the IMDA Mr. Erdener Kaynak, Congress Co-chair and Vice Rector of International Black Sea University Ms. Giuli Alasania and President of the IMDA and Director Dean Mr. Ronald S. J. Tuninga addressed the participants with welcoming speeches and presentations.

 

Mr. Lasha Zhvania, Minister of Economic Development of Georgia gave a speech on Georgian Economic Outlook. The Minister introduced key macroeconomic indicators, challenges and developments of Georgian economy. The Minister underlined that despite severe world economic and financial crises Georgias economy continues to show sustainable growth and durably proves its resistance next to global challenges. In addition Mr. Zhvania spoke about Georgian Tax and Labour Codes considered being the one of the liberal in the world; employers being enjoying hire one of the highly literate workforce and low taxes strengthening the private sector developments. During his presentation, Minister Zhvania emphasized countrys investment climate attractiveness and the Georgian National Investment Agencys superior role in conducting any related support to investors as their most reliable and reputed partner.

 

The private sector representatives addressed the issues of success factors related to Georgian Company Business Performance in their presentations. Rakeen Investment Development which is at the same time responsible of Poti Free Industrial Zone gave a speech about role and impact of Facilitator agencies for Economic Development of Georgia. In addition special panel was dedicated to New Developments in Global Business Education during the Congress, with discussions about the successfully completed and undergoing corresponding reforms by Georgian Government.
IMDAs mission concerns management development through the transfer of information and knowledge, learning, cooperation and exchange of personnel. The Association is involved with all of the functional areas of business, namely management, finance, accounting, marketing, information systems, etc.
