SOCAR will Invest USD 35 million in fuel Stations Building

From January 2009 SOCAR, the state oil company of Azerbaijan, will start constructing the network of fuel stations throughout Georgia. SOCAR has already purchased 15 fuel stations from “Lukoil” and is rebranding them.

SOCAR is building 5 other fuel stations including one on the Rustavi highway. The station will be the biggest in the companys network and will have a hotel and a hypermarket nearby. The construction of such mega-stations is also planned in Batumi and Zestaponi.

SOCAR intends to invest USD 35 million in the project. This will enable the company to obtain 15% on the retail fuel market of Georgia. 40% of the wholesale market is already controlled by SOCAR.
