National Bank of Georgia (NBG) informs that British HSBC has received license for banking activity in Georgia. HSBC Bank Georgia became the 19th in the country banking system. HSBC-Bank plc (London) applied on subsidiary establishing in Georgia in the beginning of June.
As NBG notes, HSBC Bank Georgia supervision capital amounting $10 million has already transferred on proper account. Presently setting up of head-office is undergoing at Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi. HSBC Bank Georgia will launch service in November.
NBG cites British Euromoney, according to which HSBC ranked 4th among world's top 10 banks in 2006. Its total assets made up $862.7 billion at the end of 2006.
