Five Commercial Banks Account for 90.3% of Private Individual Deposits

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) informs that 90.3% (818.2 million GEL) of total volume of private individual deposits accounts for five commercial banks. The list and positions of these banks have not been changed since the beginning of the year: TBC-Bank, Bank of Georgia, ProCredit Bank, Republic, VTB Bank Georgia.

 

The list is headed by TBC-Bank (275.5 million GEL, 30.4% of total volume), which has increased the showing by 10.4% comparing to the same figures of previous year. The next ranks Bank of Georgia (201.5 million GEL, 22.2% of total), the growth from the beginning of the year made up 31.9%; ProCredit Bank (167.5 million lari, 18.5%) with the 7.4% growth; Republic (94.9 million GEL, 10.5%), showings declined by 6.1% compared with the start of the last year, and VTB Bank Georgia (78.8 million GEL, 9.7%) with the 24.4% growth.

 

According to NBG, for the first half of 2007 volume of private individuals' term deposits increased by 16.5% and made up 906.4 million lari (37.7% of total deposits). Of which 90.2%, or 817 million GEL, is placed in foreign currency, the rest - in GEL.
