Georgian government intends to alienate agricultural land plots, aiming creation there of factory-farm enterprises. Zurab Nogaideli, Prime Minister, stated that the initial stage envisages selecting about 100 land lots, while investors will be revealed through competition - depending to business-plan and amount of proposed investment. Each lot will include area of about 400-500 ha, which may cover several plots as well.
Nogaideli, presenting program of agro-industrial sector development on the government meeting, held in Kvareli district (Kakheti region), noted that plant should be set up within 1 year as a rule, while investor will pay only 20% of land's market price, aiming extra investments promotion.
As the President Mikheil Saakashvili, headed the meeting, said, that way in the first year of program "entrepreneurs will be given back 30-40 million GEL for further development of production".
The President said as well that rehabilitation of all main roads and access ways to the regional centers should be completed to the end of 2008, while the state plans to invest during 3 years 600-700 million GEL in infrastructure development.
Saakashvili promised to investors that the plants will be provided with power uninterruptedly, while primary production will be exempted from VAT.
