According to the Department of Statistics, 5 articles of goods accounted for about 40% of Georgian export in January-June. The top article is ferroalloys with 9.5% ($52.01 million) of total, exceeding last year's showings by 30.9%.
It is followed by black metal scrap - $50.9 million (9.3% of total), which is by 50.5% more than the same figures of previous year. Copper concentrate comes next with $45 million (8.2% of total), growing by 35.6% compared with 2006. It should be noted, that top 3 articles have not changed compared with first half of last year.
Motorcars have moved from the 7th to 4th position, the export of which made up $33.1 million (6% of total), which is by 2.4 times more than the same figures of 2006. The fifth position is held by nitric fertilizers - $28.8 million (5.3%), growing by 51.8%.
As for the import, top 5 categories account for 31.2% of total volume.
Like previous year, the first come oil and oil-products import with $228.2 million (10.2%), exceeding by 12.3% last year's showings.
It is followed by natural gas - $177.4 million (8%), 73.8% growth; motorcars - $167.6 million (7.5%), by 21.2% more. These articles have replaced each other in the top list since 2006.
The 4th are medications. The import made up $68.9 million (3.1% of total), which is by 21.9% more then in the same period of 2006. Grain keeps the 5th with $53.3 million (2.4%), growth - 41.8%.
Just to remind, Georgian export volume made up $548.6 million for the current year, which is by 20.1% more than the same figures of 2006, while import made up $2.2 billion, or by 42% more.
