The Tbilisi Supervisory Service has started knocking down the house at 50 Tabukashvili St. David Avaliani, head of the service, says the apartment building was constructed in 1998-1999 illegally, without the project.

Avaliani says the Tbilisi City Hall will give alternative space to 27 households residing in the building. Those who will refuse to accept the dwelling space will be handed over lavish compensation, which will make them able to buy apartments in the Tbilisi center.

However, dwellers of the house are reluctant to leave the building. There are speculations that Award, an investment company founded by British-Swiss Capital Vostok is interested in the space occupied by the above apartment house.

Capital Vostok plans to invest about 50 m USD in Georgia. It plans to construct a 5-star hotel on Rustaveli Av.
