Ministry Economic Development of Georgia invites international companies to express by September 14 interest in Poti Port leasing and free industrial area creation on neighboring territory. Port and its neighboring territory of 400 ha will be handed over in 49-year leasing.
Investor should develop major infrastructure in free industrial zone and attract investments in order to increase turnover of goods in the port.
Poti Port has direct ferry links with ports of Ukraine, Russia and Bulgaria. It is included in the country railway network and is connected to Georgian cities with motorcar roads. The port is linked with Poti airport and Batumi International Airport (80 km). Port serves all types of loads and operates all the year round.
According to the Ministry, in 2006 Poti Port freight turnover made up 7 million t, exceeding by 9.1% last year's figures. Taking into consideration increase of freight turnover between Asian and European countries, Poti Port has yearly potential of 25 million t, the Ministry notes.
