Italian company Ferrero intends to invest 6 million EUR this year in nut plantations in west Georgia, the Ministry of Agriculture reports.
The company purchased 1,235 ha of agriculture land at an auction, held in Zugdidi yesterday. Another 32 ha was purchased by local residents. The total sum, gained from an auction, made up 1.2 million lari.
Ferrero will start grubbing up the tea plantations on the territory works and land cultivation in two weeks. In November, nut-planting works will be carried out, the company representative said. Ferrero plans to export nut produced in Georgia for their production in Italy.
