Economic Cooperation Between Germany and Georgia to Continue

Georgian and German state commissions have met at the beginning of the week in Tbilisi, signing the finance cooperation agreement. German government will allot 27 million EUR for funding projects proposed by Georgia in September 2006.

  

As Mzia Giorgobiani, Foreign Ministry representative, said to Sarke, in particular, the second stage of Batumi water-supply system rehabilitation will be funded with credit of 13 million EUR and grant of 1 million EUR. The first stage, which have been still continuing, was funded with credit of 17.8 million EUR and grant of 1.5 million EUR.

  

Giorgobiani informed that Georgian side has presented projects for funding in 2008-2009 years. The decision of German government will be announced next year. Issues of cooperation in energy supply, agriculture development and system establishment for wine quality control were considered as well, Giorgobiani noted.
