NBG President to Lead Basel committee regional group

As the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) informs, Roman Gotsiridze, the president of NBG, will lead regional group of Basel Committee on Banking Supervision in 2007-2009.

Chairmanship in Committee regional group was passed through rotation to Georgia from Armenia. Accordingly, the 17th conference Committee regional group will be held in 2007 in Georgia.

The conference will discuss banking supervision, realization of Basel Committees principles and recommendations.

Regional group of Basel Committee on Banking Supervision combines central banks of South Caucasus, Central Asia and Russian Federation. The regional group was founded in 1995.

The Basel Committee for Banking Control with headquarters in Basel, Switzerland was established in 1994. It contributes to rapprochement national banking legislations.
